A Quick Guide To Finding the Best Earrings for Children With Sensitive Ears
Do these ear piercing symptoms sound familiar?
Itching, soreness, swelling, redness, bleeding.
You may have chalked these symptoms up to poorly healed ear piercings or sensitive ears.
In reality, these are symptoms of a metal allergy.
When the body is in regular contact with highly reactive metals, it eventually builds up an allergy called contact dermatitis. Once this allergy develops, any time the body is in contact with that metal, a painful reaction will occur.
When choosing earrings for sensitive ears, whether for yourself or for your child, there are a few things that are important to look for:
1. Choose earrings made with pure, nonallergenic materials. Some metals to look for: pure titanium, niobium, gold, and platinum.
2. Make sure any portion of the earring that is in contact with the skin (including the back) is also made of pure, nonallergenic materials.
3. Be wary of labels like "hypoallergenic earrings" and "nickel free earrings." There are many metals, not just nickel, that can cause allergic reactions. Also, the term "hypoallergenic earrings" is unregulated, and therefore can be used on any pair of earrings, regardless of safety.
What Materials Are Actually Safe for Sensitive Ears?
Titanium
Titanium is one of the most biocompatible metals in existence (which is why it is used for medical implants). Make sure the earrings are made with pure titanium, not titanium steel or another alloy.
Niobium
Niobium is a biocompatible metal that can be anodized to achieve the look of yellow gold jewelry while retaining its nonallergenic properties.
Medical Plastic
Unlike metal, plastic is generally non-reactive with the human body. Look for medical-grade plastic that can withstand long term wear.
Finally!
"My daughter couldn’t wear any type of earrings. I have purchased every kind of metal, plastic cover etc and they all has the same result. We decided to try your product and not only do they not bother her, they are lovely! I’m so happy for her!"

Our Story
Back in 2017, after years of not wearing earrings, our founder set out to find a pair that wouldn't irritate her ears. She was frustrated to find that even deep into Google she couldn't find anything that would work. At that point, she decided to take matters into her own hands to create earrings that were not just pretty but also comfortable. From there, Tini Lux was born.
