Spring is finally in the air in the northeast. The first taste of warmer weather has made me feel like a new person. Spring is historically the time when people take stock of what's in their house and do a "spring cleaning" to freshen up their space.
Along with the purge of the old, it's normal to want to refresh your space and your wardrobe with some new pieces that are on trend for the season.
I put together an easy 12 piece spring capsule wardrobe with items that will refresh your wardrobe, and seamlessly match with each other & the other items you already own.
Starting from the outside in: A light/medium weight coat is a must for spring. A trench coat is a classic item that will never go out of style. The update of plaid makes it feel on trend. A pair of sustainable white sneakers (favored by Meghan Markle!) and some strappy sandals will cover most of your casual and dressy needs this spring.
If you're still exclusively wearing skinny jeans, it's time to pick up some wide leg or straight leg pants. I love a wide leg trouser paired with a nice blouse for slightly dressed up occasions (like a baby shower). Wrap your pant legs into your strappy sandals to look like perfectly on trend. A pair of off white straight leg denim will go perfectly with all your camel and beige sweaters, and a distressed pair will add some airiness for warmer spring days.
Coral is the on trend color this spring. A lightweight coral sweater will pair just as well with your wide leg trousers as it will with off white denim. A long sleeve tee shirt is a wardrobe staple, and can be worn on it's own, or layered under a wrap sweater or cardigan to add dimension (and warmth) to a look.
Finally, the accessories. Slouchy leather purses are everywhere this spring. This Mansur Gavriel version of the dumpling purse is the perfect shade of beige to go with everything you own. A simple pair of gold stud earrings will work for every day, and a sleek pair of square gold hoops will dress up your look for night.
