Baby #2

Tini Lux will always feel like my first baby so, in a way, my son was baby number 2. Since having a child, I’ve found there are a lot of parallels between being a founder and a parent. The sleepless nights, the uncertainty, the blood/sweat/tears but also the excitement, the joy, the happiness (sometimes all in the same day) - the range of feelings from both experiences are all very much the same.

When you create something, whether it’s a business or a child, it is on your mind 24/7, there’s no turning it off. Everything about it feels like a reflection of you. It’s terrifying and wonderful at the same time.

For so long, your baby or your brand exists only to you or maybe the people closest to you. At some point it becomes real and goes out into the world. Then every day it takes on more and more of its own personality.

The goal of a parent is to raise a healthy, successful child who is able to take on the world by themselves. Similarly, as a founder you hope that you have built something that at some point can live on its own without you too.

As both founder and parent you feel like no one will ever love and care for you baby as much as you - and yet once you put it out there, you’re shocked how many people actually do.

I’m constantly reminded of this from the wonderful emails and reviews we got from customers and I’m also so constantly in awe of how much love every member of our team puts into this brand and making sure that each and every one of you has a good experience. It was important to me to take a true maternity leave which I am so thankful I was able to do. It really felt like I was leaving my first baby on its own but I’m happy to say when I returned it was still thriving.

This is all to say thank you. Thank you for loving my baby as much as I do. If Tini Lux was a child it would be starting kindergarten this fall, which really reminds me how young it still is and how far we have to go. Thanks for getting us through the toddler years 💙

xoxo Jackie
