Tini Lux earrings are made with medical grade titanium, an inert metal that does not react with the human body.  Titanium is commonly used in medical implants because it is one of the only metals on earth that can coexist peacefully with the human body

Titanium is rarely used in fashion jewelry because is very difficult to manufacture. Titanium has a very high melting point, therefore it can only be cold worked, unlike other metals (gold, brass, etc) that can be melted and molded easily. For this reason, it's manufacturing costs are higher and the design options are limited. Since we are committed to only using pure titanium, we have found creative ways to make sure that our earrings are both biocompatible and fashionable.

We use a physical vapor deposit (PVD) method of plating our earrings. This leaves a thicker, more durable coat of gold, rose gold, and silver than other plated fashion jewelry. The result is that as long as our earrings are properly cared for, the plating on our earrings does not fade. In particular, our starter studs which are meant to be worn 24/7 while your piercings heal, can be worn in the shower or while swimming without the plating wearing away. The metal plating is only applied to portions of the earring that do not come in contact with your ear or piercing so that you do not have to worry about irritants or allergens reaching your piercing.
