When 2020 packs a punch, it really packs a punch. By this time next week, Halloween will be over, the US election will have taken place, and we will have traded an extra hour of sleep for a never-ending night. That's right Tini Lux fam, we're talking about Daylight Savings!


The "fall back" part of Daylight Savings always stresses me out, especially living in the Northeast where daylight pretty much becomes an endangered species in the winter. And if there's anything that messes with my ability to look good and feel good it's A.) the amount of stress I'm under, and B.) the amount of sleep I get. Both of which are being majorly messed with this weekend. So, to help ease us through this transition, I've compiled some tips and tricks to keep our best face forward.
1.) Get Enough Sleep


You might think this is a good time to stay up a bit later, since you'll likely wake up earlier than you normally do in the morning. I'm here to say, don't do it! The people at Ritual researched how Daylight Savings time affects our Circadian Rhythm, and they concluded that now is not the time to be messing with your sleep schedule. Maintain your sleeping pattern, whatever the clock says, and make sure you're getting plenty of sleep. You may even benefit from getting some additional sunlight in the morning! Which leads me to my next point...
2.) Get Enough Vitamin D


Did you know pork, mushrooms, and salmon are Vitamin D rich? Neither did I! Eating the right foods can keep your sunny disposition humming. Get outside while you can to absorb Vitamin D from the sun, and if you need an extra boost, you can invest in a Vitamin D lamp (also known as a "happy light") or take a supplement.
3.) Stay Hydrated, Stay Moisturized


This is the time of year when I start hearing the ol' "you look tired" standard more often. Since I'd rather not field that comment on the daily, I make sure to moisturize and stay hydrated. This is good advice any time, but especially during transitions that can make us stressed out. For maximum benefit, moisturize right out of the shower while your skin is still damp and drink a glass of water every hour.
4.) Don't Stress About Earrings
Naturally, I had to include a tip for sensitive ears. It's pretty simple: don't wear earrings that hurt your ears! Titanium earrings for sensitive ears will save you from irritation.
That's all for now. Daylight Savings may be the worst, but at least we have some tools to deal with it. And on a hopeful note, we might be getting rid of Daylight Savings sooner rather than later!

Best earrings for sensitive ears! I haven’t been able to wear any earrings since my kids that didn’t upset my ears. I haven’t had to take these out since I’ve received them. Just when I thought I had to be done wearing earrings because of the pain you came along. Thank you for making me feel pretty!
